Just think about it, do you honestly ever want to go through this game on a harder difficulty, if at all? I know I don't. Almost no one who casually plays this game is going to experience the entire thing just cause people miss the pages or simply don't care enough to read them.Īnd just so you know, I like all 3 stories in Outlast 2, but they put all this shit on top of it you have to go through to experience it. Multiplayer horror The Outlast Trials gets release date on Steam, Epic 2 months ago The Outlast Trials closed beta unleashes co-op survival horror 7 months. They could have, and SHOULD have, found a way to tell it organically throughout the game. This story is probably the best one, especially when you read the Murkoff connection, but to tell the entire thing through collectibles is just downright stupid of Red Barrels to do. The entire story, THE ENTIRE STORY, is told through the pages you find. These are not feeling you want your playerbase to feel.Īnd finally, the cult story. Almost everyone I've talked to tell me that whenever a school segment started they just didn't want to play it cause it was boring and shitty. You go to that school at least 8 times, when they easily could have shortened it to 3 or 4 and spread them out throughout the game. The Jessica story was told almost metaphorically through annoying and jarring segments in the school that told you too little information, so they ended up seeming pointless to most. The Outlast Trials - Discord ChannelAbout the GameRed Barrels invites you to experience mind-numbing terror, this time with friends. The least interesting one is easily trying to get Lynn back, and it's the one they decided to put front and center. There are 3 stories in Outlast 2: what happened when you were a kid, what happened at the cult before you got there, and your story going through the cult to get Lynn back. All of those are way bigger problems than the terrible, terrible way they went about telling the story. Most of the game is pitch black so you're looking at it constantly with a green filter over the gameplay which was interesting in Outlast 1 but felt been-there-done-that in 2. Moreover, the game starts to get a lot less scary once you've played through an area this many times. The game is needlessly hard due to bad ai, had confusing and downright bad level design, and was super frustrating and annoying once you'd died in a certain spot for the 10th time because of said bad ai and bad level design. ![]() As investigative journalist Miles Upshur, explore Mount Massive Asylum and try to survive long enough to discover its terrible secret. I know this is an old thread but that was not the main complaint. Hell is an experiment you can't survive in Outlast, a first-person survival horror game developed by veterans of some of the biggest game franchises in history.
